In rural Bangladesh, thousands of children begin each academic year without the basic supplies they need to learn effectively. Families living in poverty are forced to choose between food and education materials — and education often loses. Without books, pens, and bags, children fall behind, lose confidence, and often drop out of school entirely.
BRDT's Back to School appeal addresses this crisis head-on. Each year, BRDT distributes comprehensive education packs to underprivileged students across Belghar — from Kindergarten children starting their learning journey all the way through to university students pursuing higher education. The goal is simple: no child should be left behind because their family cannot afford a pen.
BRDT works directly with local schools and community leaders to identify the most needy students, ensuring supplies reach genuine beneficiaries — not duplicated or misused. Packs are tailored to education level, from simple colouring books for young children to full stationery sets for university students.

BRDT works with local school teachers and community leaders to identify the most underprivileged students before each academic year. We ensure that packs go to children from families who genuinely cannot afford education supplies — prioritising orphans and children from single-parent homes.
Volunteers assemble tailored education packs based on each child's school level. Distribution events are held at local schools and community centres across Belghar, creating a celebration of learning that motivates children and brings communities together with pride and hope.
Children who receive education packs through BRDT show measurably better school attendance and academic performance. Equipped and supported, they arrive at school with confidence — ready to learn, participate, and achieve the results that will shape their futures.

BRDT supports students from kindergarten through to university level. Priority is given to children from families living below the poverty line, orphans, children of widows, and those who have previously had to drop out due to lack of supplies. Packs are customised for each educational level.
Packs are typically distributed at the start of the academic year in Bangladesh, which runs from January. BRDT also distributes mid-year when funds allow, to support students who join the programme later or whose supplies run out. Donations are accepted year-round.
A primary school education pack costs approximately £5–£8. A secondary school pack with stationery, textbooks, and a geometry set costs £8–£15. A university-level pack including financial assistance for exam fees can cost £12–£20. Any contribution, however small, makes a difference.
Yes. In addition to physical supplies, BRDT provides financial assistance to students who cannot afford to pay exam registration fees for major national exams like the SSC (Secondary School Certificate) and HSC (Higher Secondary Certificate). Missing these exams due to financial reasons can permanently derail a student's future.
Since BRDT began its Back to School programme, hundreds of children across Belghar have returned to school equipped and ready to learn. Your donation doesn't just buy supplies — it keeps a child in school, gives a family hope, and invests in the future of a nation.
Every penny you donate to Back to School goes directly into education packs for underprivileged children. BRDT's 100% Donation Policy means no overheads are deducted — ever.
